  1. I received a note from an MI student, Grace Paxton a few days after the funeral of my father. Her mother and I work together and have become very close friends. Over the past few years, I have come to care about Grace and her sisters very much. The letter she wrote me was colorful and sweet and came to me on a rough day as I deal with the loss of my father. What an awesome project this is. It doesn't matter how big or small the act of kindness is and I look forward to passing a note on to someone I know. It might just make their day.

  2. I just came home from work and getting my daughter off the bus, pulled up to my driveway and saw that our garbage cans and recycling bin were put in front of our garage door. Someone had carried them up for us, I yelled across the street to my neighbor to ask if she did it, she said no. I saw a note on it that had the Pay It Forward information and the name of Isaac. Isaac is a student at MI that lives down the street. What a wonderful surprise to have the cans carried up the driveway for us! After having lots of other things to carry in from the car, it was great to have one less thing to do. Thank you for a great project, it makes a difference, no matter what the good deed is!
    Thank you MI and Isaac!

  3. My daughter took it upon herself to make pizzas and lemonade for dinner. After I helped her put them in the oven, we enjoyed a great meal. She even cleaned up the dishes afterwards. What a nice surprise!! Thank you.

  4. Monday morning! Not only Monday morning but a very cold Monday morning that reminded me that summer was over! How nice of Ty Kerr to place an assortment of muffins in the teachers' work room. I completely enjoyed my chocolate chip muffin with my coffee! Thank you for making Monday not so bad after all!

  5. I received a call from an MI student Thursday afternoon, offering help with any projects I may have. She explained the "Mi Pay It Forward" project and I gratefully accepted her offer. This weekend, Grace and I got together for several hours, selected 7 flowering plants from the new Natorp’s store and planted them at the front door to my home. Grace was not only a competent worker, doing a great job and cleaning up after herself, but she was a fun companion for the three hours we shared. Makes me proud to be Grandpa.

  7. My husband and I had planned a much-needed date night for this past Saturday. In the craziness of the weekend, we were rushing out the door at the last minute. I'm proud to say that my son, Adam, was able to cook, serve, AND clean up dinner for himself and his two siblings while we were gone! I love that we're teaching our kids to Pay It Forward...and I can't wait to surprise someone by passing on my own good deed! :)

  10. Last night, Grace Rhein did something amazingly wonderful, generous and scary. She volunteered to be a part of the Yom Kippur Service at Cedar Village. She got up in front of a large group of strangers and led part of the service. She did a beautiful job and afterward the congregants told me (her mom) how wonderful it was to hear the voice of a young person. She gave these people a gift, not just by reading for them, but by spending her time with them and sharing her talents. Many people at Cedar Village rarely get to see anyone below the age of 60. The vast majority of the residents there had children and still love to be around young people. She brought a smile to their faces and to them, it meant a great deal that a young lady would take the time to share their holiday with them. There were words of thanks, smiles of gratitude and even some happy tears. Well done, Grace!

    1. Starting off the year with a Mitzvah...much Nachas she must bring you! Andrew,my youngest son Samuel and different friends used to go every couple of months, but have gotten out of the habit. The residents were always grateful, though some just wanted to watch the kids play chess instead of actually playing. We would bring our own games as not to disturb the activities director...would love to get something going on a reg basis if your interested in getting a group together?

  11. Last night I was introduced to "Pay It Forward" by Ama Beyduk, my stepdaughter. I liked this concept and I feel that id does a lot of good to our children and to our community. For example, Ama helps little children in our community without any encouragement from my wife or I. She also was very proactive in collecting items for donations for those in need. These simple things make us proud of her and we support her participation in the "Pay it Forward".

I rushed home today from work to get my daughter off the bus and pick my son up from school. Ayden, our neighbor, appeared at the door asking if he could help by taking our dog Holly for a walk. How nice! I'm glad to know MI is teaching the kids to "Pay It Forward" I certainly appreciated Ayden's good deed and Holly enjoyed it too!

  13. We have had new neighbors for several months and unfortunately we had not taken the time to introduce ourselves or welcome them to our neighborhood. One month ago we welcomed our first child and anxiously brought him home. Imagine our surprise when our new neighbor, Kylee, a student at MI, saw us outside and told us she had a gift for our little bundle. My husband and I were both touched with her generosity and kindness towards our family. It caused us to pause and think about how we can continue to "Pay It Forward" in our lives. As educators, my husband and I are so proud of Mason and cannot wait until our little guy gets to benefit from the outstanding school system. Thank you to Kylee and the faculty/staff at MI for such a wonderful and thoughtful project.

  14. This afternoon, I asked my little brother Adarsh to borrow a pencil. He then gave me 5 of his favorite pencils so I'll always have a pencil when I need it. He gave me pencils with colors/designs he knew I'd like. Thanks Adarsh for your thoughtfulness!

  15. Our neighbors Kevin Astles and Teddy Tolliver have been very helpful over the past week by bringing up our newspaper from the sidewalk. My dad enjoys the newspaper but, because of health issues, has problems getting it from the sidewalk. Kevin and Teddy allow him to enjoy the paper in the afternoon.

  18. Rhea's mother is a regular customer at our thriftstore. When she learned that we are a non-profit ministry that helps children worldwide, she volunteered her time and energy. She came in to our store for over an hour to help in any way she could. Rhea worked hard and truely was a blessing and a help. On top of that she also donated a large garbage bag of her own clothing. What a giving and kind spirit. Thanks

  21. What a nice surprise after a hard days work to have Jennah Hayes offer to help make dinner and clean as we go. She was a big helper to a busy mom on a busy night. Trash is taken out and dishes are done. Thank you Jennah Hayes for making my night a little bit easier.

  22. Recently I was in line at the cafeteria at work, trying to grab a bite to eat before dashing off to a yet another meeting. I gave the cashier my badge, which we are supposed to pre-load with money for use at the dining facility. When the cashier said "you dont have enough money loaded" I was resigned to a very hungry afternoon -- I just did not have enough time to get my wallet between meetings. Imagine my surprise and delight when the woman behind me, Tracy Louden, said "don't worry I'll get it" as she paid for my lunch! I made it through the rest of the afternoon well fed and feeling very fortunate. Later Tracy gave me the "Pay It Forward Project" card and told me how she had been inspired by her daughter Aleia's work to clean up the creek behind their house. Now it is my turn to pass on the spirit of good will that Aleia and Tracy have shared with me!

  23. Our daughter Elizabeth had been so collaborative with the arrival of his new little brother Miguel. She is fully involved in all activities related to the baby care from diaper changes to bath. But not only that, she is also helping in light housekeeping activities to help mom in the first weeks after delivery. She is doing all of these while priorizing her homework and music classes. It is amazing to see how her level of responsibilities is growing up and she does all with happiness and joy. In a couple of weeks one of our neighbors will have a new baby and we have plans to assist her with food and taking care of the first child.

  24. I came home from work to organize and clean the basement and when I went down the stairs my son, Blake, had already done the cleaning and put the boxes in their proper place. He also swept the floor and marked the boxes of its contents. Thank you very much Blake and you saved me at least three hours of work.

Ady and her family had volunteer every weekend for months to help cats and dogs find their forever home through adoption events. 26. I am the proud parent of Adidoreydi. For people who did not know Ady awhile back. Ady's hair was 49 inches long and Ady wanted a hair cut. My husband and I struggled for one month trying to deal with this request, hoping Ady would change her mind. Ady wanted short hair and 38 inches were cut off. "The Pay It Forward Project" card gave me the opportunity to share this with everyone that knows Ady and those who did not know her last year. Ady donated her hair to "Locks Of Love" in which six wigs will be made for kids with Cancer. This moment was priceless.

This really helped a lot because we had a stack of envelopes the staff uses, which had our old office address on them. The calendars will be mailed to all of our clients, referral souces and clients families. Thank you Skylar for helping and making a difference. These small jobs meant a great deal to all of us! Your sweet smile and energy were contagious. Thank you for "Paying It Forward"!!!! Paula Eisele and the entire Comfort Keepers Staff

  28. I am a teacher at The Compass School. I have had the pleasure of being Aron Olegnowiczs' teacher since he was a baby. He now comes to visit when he has days off from Mason Intermediate and spends every summer with me at Compass. On October 11, 2012 Aron had the day off school. It was on my to do list to clean our school bus. Aron not only offered to help but did an excellent job of helping without expecting anything in return. It was so good spending quality time with Aron while doing something nice for our hard working bus drivers!

  43. Each year our community celebrates an annual fall festival. Among other things each year the kids participate if different cultural activities which include singing, dancing and acting on stage. For the last couple of years the responsibility of preparing the kids for a show has been been mine, and this year i decided on a musical. Though i managed to cast almost all 5 to 9 year olds i was falling short of a person for a small but important part. Though this was out of his age range Indranshu, a fifth grader from MI came froward to solve my predicament. My kids have been practicing real hard and doing their best, but this would not have been possible without Indranshu's help. Thank you MI for the Payitforward project..i will carry this on. Thanks again Indranshu.

  55. Our daughter, Willow Stanford-Kososki, surprised my husband and I on our 18th anniversary Mon. She woke up at 5:30am to make us breakfast in bed - (greek yogurt, strawberries and cereal.) She then proceeded to give us our gifts. I recently told her when I was her age, I wanted to read the book Charlette's Web, and was on a list for the book at the school library...but I never got it. She downloaded a picture of the book's cover, and used it as wrapping paper for my gifts. Then she copied a picture of my husband and myself that was recently taken at the beach, turned it into a necklace for her teddybear - who had a party hat on for the occasion! She then wrapped a seashell that we found on the beach in the summer, and presented all of this with a hand made card (ofcourse!) As we were opening the gifts in the morning.....she then proceeded to ask "where are we all going out to dinner to night to celebrate!....our romantic dinner for two turned into a romantic dinner for four....how could I say NO!

The other ritual that she does on a daily basis - is - she MUST meet her brother at the bus stop everyday.....NO ONE ELSE GETS TO! Keep in mind, the bus drops him off two doors down. But it is a special habit that they both look forward to. Sometimes you just need to smile and count your blessings for being a parent!!! "Thank you my love...you are truly a joy....."

"in lieu of presents or cards, we are collecting donations to the Epilepsy Foundation and the Autism Foundation. (Leah has 1 cousin who is autistic and another who suffers from daily seizures.)What a thoughtful, selfless act. Thank you Leah for caring so much about your cousins and all of the other children who share their challenges. You are such a blessing to all you touch.

  58. One afternoon after a hard day, my neighbor Ben Satterthwaite came to our door wanting to take out my garbage and recycling for me. I was glad he came because I was tired and needed a break from cleaning out our family's old filing cabinets and throwing away old magazines. The recycling was filled to the top and watching him carry it to the curb was comical. After many laughs and giggles the job was done and I was happier the rest of the day. Thanks Ben for your selflessness toward others. You are truly a great neighbor to have. Thanks, Mrs. Grimes

She is an amazing young girl who realizes the importance of loving your neighbor. I know that as Lana continues to mature into a young woman that she will continue to pay it forward in many ways. She has also encouraged her sister to help collect items. I have a name that I call this little ministry of Lana's, I call it Lana's Love. 60. Very early on a Sunday morning, I was preparing to take my 7 yr old daughter to a dance competition in Lexington, KY. It also happened to be the first weekend of Mason Youth Football playoffs, and my son, Dawson's, game ended up being scheduled on this same Sunday, which meant he would miss his sister's first dance competition. He had been looking forward to attending the competition, and was visibly disappointed that he would not be able to be there.

This was to be my daughter's first competition, so of course I was a little obsessive about having everything she needed, or could possibly need, and had been up late the night before getting as much ready as possible. The morning came too quickly, and as I scrambled to get myself and my daughter ready without waking the rest of the household, I walked downstairs, to get my much needed cup of coffee, and found my travel mug sitting on the kitchen island filled with fresh coffee, a Pay it Forward Project card, and a note that read, "Dear Mom, Thanks for being the best mom ever!" Next to it was some candy and another note that read, "Dear Karissa, Good luck at your competition. I wish I could be there. Love, Dawson"

Though the actions were small, they meant so much to me and to his sister on that frantic morning. I am glad the Pay it Forward Project encouraged Dawson to take his thoughts, and even his feelings of disappointment, and turn them into positive actions. The hugs we shared and smiles on all three of our faces were the best way to start the day!

  73. I drove home from church one Sunday morning this fall and noticed it looked like the leaves in my front yard had all blown away. Then my neighbor, Meghan Burke, came over and told me she had raked my leaves for me as a random act of kindness as part of Mason Middle School's project to promote goodwill. It was such a kind act and I was completely humbled that she had chosen me to do an act of kindness for. Afterwards, I helped an elderly lady at the Post Office to use the machine to mail your own packages and she wasn't sure what to do, but didn't want to wait in the long line. So thankful for this project and my neighbor, Meghan. Ann Cripe
